Thunderbird 3, Lightning, and 64bit Linux

Lightning (the calendar provider for Mozilla Thunderbird) finally has a release out for Thunderbird 3.0 and all it's sweet, sweet tabs. When I installed it, though, I got the same error that's covering the Lightning add-on project page comments:

"Lightning could not be installed because it is not compatible with your Thunderbird build type (Linux_x86_64-gcc3). Please contact the author of this item about the problem."

Paying for Hulu?

Rumor has it that Hulu is going to start charging for content, as early as 2010. As well they should. TV is a product, entertainment no less, that people should pay for. And I can buy that a couple 15-30 second commercials per episode are not going to recoup the cost of making high-budget TV. True, shows make money in other places, in fact I could see hulu increasing DVD revenues as many users will want to own the box set.

Easy Mobile Sites with Drupal + Mobile Plugin

Let's talk Drupal mobile sites.

Some Background

Mobile device use on the web is increasing rapidly and two things are very clear: this isn't going to change and websites aren't keeping up. This particular article on consumer dissatisfaction about mobile browsing was just posted today. So this weekend I did some research on methods of making a mobile site with Drupal.

Last Paris Pics: All the Tourist-y Stuff

Here are the last pictures from Paris. These are from Narayan's camera and I uploaded them all at once, so this set's kind of a mixed bag. Here's the rundown (not the one with the Rock, sorry :(

Sunday morning we accidentally ended up at the Eiffel Tower, but it was way too crowded for me so we didn't stay long. Actually it felt very similar to being at a state fair: long lines, too many people, too much fried food, and a couple of carousels. Not at all like any other place we went to in France.

More Pics: Druplicon Mascot and the Campus

Information architecture session, lunch, and around the universite campus.

Musee d'Orsay

More pics, these are all from the Musee d'Orsay Saturday Sept 5 (while Narayan was slaving away at the code sprint ;), with artists like van Gogh, Monet, and silhouettes from Le Chat Noir.

Tired Morning

A little after 10am here, at the Social + Media keynote. Still jetlagged...fell asleep early last night and slept through dinner, but it did make breakfast this morning all the more delicious. Then woke up at 5am this morning, hopefully if I can make it all the way through today without a nap I'll be able to sleep tonight and get fully on Paris time. Managed to take some pictures of the view from our hotel room this morning before we left though.

Today's goals:
1. Stay awake long enough to go out tonight
2. Take more pictures with people in them
3. More....coffee....

DrupalCon Day 2 Sessions

Ack, almost done with the first day of sessions. Had a great lunch with the Drupalchix and managed to take some pics in between sessions (click the thumbnails for larger images). The conference is on a University campus, so the facilities are all really nice. Exhausted now though, may skip the last session of the day. Right now listening to presentation on taxonomy in Drupal 7, want to try out Ubercart later, inspired by the morning speech.

Paris Day 1

Just finishing Day 1 in Paris. Flight got in about an hour early to Charles de Gaulle (about 7am local time) and Narayan and I went to the Maison Internationale to check in to DrupalCon. The conference is really close to the hotel (a nice 15-20 minute walk, we haven't tried to figure out the metro yet). I was exhausted from the time change and not really sleeping on the plane though, so actually I slept most of the afternoon. Didn't sound like I missed much at the conference today though; sessions don't start 'til tomorrow.

New look

Tabor Neighbors is back with a new look courtesy of the contrib "Painted Wall" theme (thank you theme garden!) I'm still working on a custom "Tabor" zen subtheme, but it wasn't ready in time for DrupalCon Paris. The plan is I'll have some time in between sessions to write about DrupalCon and post pics here. More frequent updates on twitter.
